How Bivryn works

A short walkthrough — from install to daily rhythm. About a 3-minute read.

Bivryn turns the biology your iPhone and Apple Watch already collect into something you can actually read. Most of the experience is doing nothing; the interesting work happens in the background. This page walks through what to expect.

The short version. Install. Grant Apple Health. Decide whether to turn on insights. Look at Today each morning. Log what you can be bothered to log. Let the patterns surface on their own.

Why Bivryn is different

Most health apps overwhelm you with scores, streaks, and alarmist red numbers. Bivryn was built around what those apps deliberately leave out: interpretation. A calm read of what your body is doing today, in plain language, with no judgment.

No streaks. Streaks reward consistency over honesty — they punish you for the day you actually need rest. We chose the opposite. Bivryn doesn't keep score of your days.

No shouting. Red numbers, exclamation points, "BAD!" thresholds — these add stress to a screen meant to reduce it. Bivryn's worst days read the same shape as its best days: a sentence, a curve, a calm recommendation. The numbers tell the truth without yelling it.

No nag. You can use Bivryn for months without logging a single supplement and it still works. Apple Health does the heavy lifting in the background. Logging is for the days you want to be precise.

No gamification. There are no badges. No XP. No levels. Biology isn't a game — it's a relationship. We treat it that way.

What "Bivryn" means

The name is built from three parts.

Bi — biology. The body's quiet machinery.

V — vitality. The voltage running through it.

ryn — rhythm. The pattern over time.

Three parts of one idea: biology has rhythm, and rhythm has meaning.

1

The first day

Onboarding is on-device and takes about a minute. There are no accounts, no email, no password. You'll see a few short steps:

  • About you. A handful of fields Bivryn can't read from Apple Health on its own — like whether you're managing any chronic conditions. Everything is optional and skippable.
  • Apple Health. Bivryn asks for read access to sleep, HRV, heart rate, recovery, respiratory rate, VO₂max, wrist temperature, and a few others. Grant as much as you're comfortable with — the more it can read, the sharper the interpretation. Nothing leaves your device with identifying information attached.
  • Insights. Bivryn's interpretive layer uses Anthropic's Claude. You'll see a short consent screen that explains exactly what is sent (anonymized biology summaries and your question text — no name, no email, no device identifier) and what isn't (raw HealthKit history, photos, voice notes). "Not now" is a fully supported path; Bivryn continues to work with rule-based local interpretation.

Once that's done, Home renders a Day 1 Reveal — a single observation drawn from up to 90 days of your historical Apple Health data. It might be your best week of sleep, a recovery streak, or a longer-term trajectory. It's there to give you something real on day one while the longitudinal engine warms up.

2

Daily rhythm

Bivryn has four main surfaces. None of them ask for anything from you to be useful.

Today

The morning reveal — one short interpretive sentence that says how your body is reading right now, with a recovery ribbon underneath. Tap "Why today?" to see the causal chain (what's off, what likely influenced it, what changes it). Tap any driver to open its evidence panel — the actual numbers behind the read.

Discoveries

Pattern detection across your biology and behavior. Coffee after 2 PM might reduce your deep sleep by some percentage; late dinners might lift overnight heart rate for two nights. Discoveries needs roughly 14–21 days of data before it produces longitudinal patterns. Before that, it shows baseline observations — your typical sleep window, your usual HRV range — so the screen earns its place from day one.

Body Memory

A long-form timeline of your biology, written as a story. Best weeks, recovery streaks, illness windows, supplement changes, lab milestones. Chapters generate automatically when something is worth marking; they don't accumulate from streaks or daily logs.

Trends

The chart canvas. Per-metric history, composite Energy and Stress scores, cardio fitness band, sleep architecture, wrist temperature, training capacity. No interpretation here — just your numbers, drawn cleanly.

3

Logging what matters

Most of Bivryn runs without manual logs. But the things Apple Health can't see — what you ate, which supplements, how you felt, when stress hit — are exactly the kind of inputs that turn correlations into useful patterns.

Tap the amber plus button at the bottom of any screen to open Quick Log. From there:

  • Supplements & medications. Point your camera at the bottle; Bivryn parses the label. Save with one tap or edit first.
  • Meals. Photograph your plate; Bivryn identifies the dish and a rough macro split.
  • Mood, symptoms, notes. Free text with smart chip predictions. Voice input is supported (on-device transcription, never sent to a server).
  • Coffee, alcohol, fasting, hydration. One-tap markers when you want to be precise.

Anything you log shows up on the same day's interpretation and feeds into the longer-term pattern engine.

4

Privacy in one paragraph

Your data lives on your iPhone. If you have iCloud sync turned on, it syncs to your private iCloud database — never to our servers. When Bivryn asks Claude to interpret your biology, it sends anonymized summaries (numerical sleep, HRV, heart rate, baselines) and your question text. It does not send your name, email, device identifier, raw HealthKit history, photos, or voice recordings. Anthropic does not train on commercial API content. You can turn insights off at any time from Profile → AI Insights, and delete everything Bivryn has stored locally from Profile → Privacy → Delete all my data. The full Privacy Policy covers the details.

5

Apple Watch

The Watch companion is minimal by design — one glance screen showing your body state and recovery curve, a breathing session, and four complication families for the watch face. The watch reads from a shared store on your iPhone; it doesn't make its own LLM calls, so there's no extra battery cost and no separate data path.

iOS widgets show body state and Today's Focus on the Home and Lock screens, with a Live Activity in the Dynamic Island during in-flux windows (post-meal, post-workout, etc.).

6

Trial and subscription

Bivryn is free for 7 days, with full access. After the trial, the subscription auto-renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before the trial ends. If you skip the trial during onboarding, the app remains usable for non-AI features and any previously generated interpretations stay visible. Cancel any time from iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Bivryn.

If a feature ever asks you to subscribe and you'd rather not, you can keep using Bivryn without it — the rule-based body state, your raw biology, logging, breathing sessions, lab imports, and Apple Watch glances all stay open.

Questions? Support & FAQ covers the most common ones. For anything else, message @SaySereze on X.
